Student News

Marcia Wharen, paralegal student, received a Dallas Area Paralegal Association scholarship in the amount of $500.

 

The Collin College Model United Nations won four awards at the American Model United Nations Conference in Chicago. The "Jordan" and "Saudi Arabia" delegations won Outstanding Delegation Position Paper awards; Andrew Parsell placed first in the General Assembly First Committee; and Kay Treacher and Candice Barnard placed first in the Economic and Social Council. About 140 universities and colleges and 1,400 students competed.

 

Tracy Fanous, student and member of the Center for Advanced Studies in Mathematics and Natural Sciences, won the Outstanding Poster Award at the American Chemical Society’s Southwest Regional Conference in Lubbock in November.  

 

Chris Doumen, professor of biology, and CASMNS student Helen Zhu had their entry verified and their sequence of the red swamp crawfish genome was officially entered into the national gene bank Nov. 24.
