Applications are now being accepted for spring 2008 SLA II. Complete application packets for SLA II, LEAD 2301 are available at www.ccccd.edu/sla and must be received no later than 5:00 pm, Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008.
Only 25 students will be accepted into the spring LEAD 2301 course. Students interested in the course must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and fill out an application packet. The application must be completed in its entirety to be considered for the class.
There is no prerequisite for LEAD 2301.
Established in 2002, the Student Leadership Academy is a rigorous semester-long leadership experience unique to Collin College. The course is designed to encourage leadership, integrity, professional development, scholarship and service. The curriculum fosters skills through lecture, guest speakers, student facilitation and team projects. The students earn three credit hours upon completion.
LEAD 2301 classes are offered during the spring semester from 8:45-11:30 a.m. The course is held at the Preston Ridge Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco.
As part of the application packet, students applying to the Student Leadership Academy must submit an academic transcript, two letters of recommendation and an essay. Students accepted will be notified via email and postal service prior to first day of classes. Further, students receiving acceptance letters to the SLA will be registered into the course by the college registrar.
