5 Tips to Eating Healthier this Thanksgiving
It’s darn near impossible to escape the calorie intake that typically accompanies Thanksgiving. One could just not eat. But that’s unfestive and depending on the company and the cook, rude. So, here are five tips toward minimizing the calories and fat this holiday season.

5. Substitute
Cooking isn’t exactly a science. Ingredients can have deviations and alternatives. Opt for low-fat options like skim milk, low-fat cheeses, egg whites (instead of the whole egg) and low-fat yogurts and sour creams.

4. Soup
A great alternative to certain high-fat sides are lower-fat soups. Also, make hearty turkey and veggie soups with the leftover bird.

3. Size
Pile up on mom’s dressing all you want, but portion size matters. Do not necessarily boycott a side dish, but keep the portions low.

2. Stop
Thanksgiving dinner is not an eating contest. Besides every family has an uncle that can out-eat the Swiss army. When you’re full, pack it in.

1. Snack
Do not roll up to the table just famished. You will end up overeating and just feeling rotten the rest of the day (actually, the last part may or may not be true for everyone).
