Tino Trujillo, trustee, received the 2007 Fred Moses Minority Business Development Award at the Plano Chamber of Commerce's Excellence in Business Awards Luncheon Sept. 20, at the Summit Ballrooms.

Mark Kauffman, associate professor of AGDT, won several honors at the 2007 Texas Association of Telecommunication Officers and Advisors Government Programming Awards with the city of Allen. Kauffman was first in  Magazine Format (Operating Budget, Public Affairs, Interview / Talk Show, Public Health/Public Safety (Operating Budget and Special Audience. He took second for Event Coverage, Profile of a City/City Department and
Overall Excellence in Government Programming. A third place was also received for The Amazing Adventure.

 

Istvan Csato’s, professor of geology, paper “The Messinian Problem in the Pannonian Basin, Eastern Hungary – Insights from Stratigraphic Simulations” will be published this fall in the journal Sedimentary Geology.

 

Coordinator of Emergency Medical Services James Shiplet and Director of the Simulation Lab Jackie Langford have been selected to present a hands-on workshop on patient assessment at this year’s Texas EMS Conference in Houston in November.

 

Dr. Mary McRae, vice president of student development, Brenda Kihl, associate vice president of strategic initiatives, and Cary Israel, college president, have been selected to present a workshop titled “A Regional Collaborative to Improve College Readiness” at the College Board Annual Forum in New York City in late October.

Collin College’s Alpha Mu Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has fulfilled all requirements to the distinction of being named a “Five-Star Chapter.”  In addition to receiving recognition regionally, the chapter and college will receive international recognition, its achievements will be cited on the Phi Theta Kappa Society website, and it will be recognized at the organization’s International Convention.

 

Global EDGE has won the Promotion of Tech Prep Award from the National Association of Tech Prep Leaders. The group's submission was based on the use of podcasting to reach students and teachers regarding tech prep. The award will be presented in October at the national Tech Prep conference in Louisville, Ken.
