College schedules Constitution Day event

Through its annual Constitution Day event, Collin College will take a long look at the second amendment: the right to keep and bear arms.

A moderated panel will discuss this amendment, its legal and constitutional interpretations and public policy issues that might result in a re-interpretation. The event is scheduled for 7-9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17, at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center.

The panel includes Justin Wert, associate professor of political science at the University of Oklahoma, Lackland Bloom, professor of law at Southern Methodist University and Jim Dark from the Texas State Rifle Association and a representative from the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence in Washington, D.C.

The event is free and open to the public.

For more information, contact Regina Hughes, director of the Center for Scholarly and Civic Engagement, at rhughes@ccccd.edu or 972.881.5900.
