The following table presents the socio-economic and demographic data for Collin County. The population of Collin County has grown from 491,675 in 2000 to 715,575 in 2007, an increase of 45.5 percent. By 2012, the population is expected to grow to 881,008. At present, there are 844 persons per square mile (density); the density is likely to increase to 1,040 in 2012. Overall, one-fourth of the total population in 2012 would likely comprise of minorities. The foreign population has been on a rise; the trend is likely to continue. There is some evidence of an increase in the percentage of population obtaining college and graduate degrees. The median household income is likely to increase from $81,657 in 2007 to $102,488 in 2012. Overall, 39 percent of the employed persons spent between 30-59 minutes traveling to work in 2007; more people will be spending more time traveling to work.
