InterLink finds jobs for students
By Elaine Stewart Special Contributor
Are you considering your career path as you attend summer school and plan for fall semester? Have you done your homework related to where jobs are and how many there will be when you finish your present educational plan?
InterLink may be an important resource for you.
Since 1987, InterLink has surveyed North Central Texas employers to determine what high skill occupations are most needed for regional employment. To prepare a competitive and skilled workforce for the future, public high schools and community colleges use this information to develop curriculum and programs to help prepare their students for these future careers.
The information provided by InterLink is intended to be used as a guideline for high demand occupational opportunities in North Central Texas. The absence of your selected occupation does not necessarily omit it from career opportunities. Labor market conditions change rapidly; therefore, it is important to stay current with information about career opportunities and college programs. The information provided here may not represent careers pertinent to other parts of the state or nation.
Many of the occupations currently in demand are offered at Collin College. Career Services & Co-op and InterLink have developed a brochure for students featuring targeted occupations offered at Collin College.
“This brochure is easy to read and gives so much helpful information about career descriptions, years of training, regional salaries, and is exactly what I need," according to one student.
Pick up your brochure and learn about other services available through your career center: Central Park Campus in McKinney, Preston Ridge Campus in Frisco and Spring Creek Campus in Plano.
Elaine Stewart is the coordinator of Job Location/Development at Collin College.
