College News
Former Collin College theatre student Michael Urie, who stars on the hit television show Ugly Betty, was profiled in the June 7 edition of The Dallas Morning News, GuideLive section and was featured in In West Plano magazine’s June-July 2007 issue. Urie spent a year studying in Collin College’s theatre program before moving to New York to study at Juilliard. He graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree from Juilliard in 2004.

The Understanding and Working with the Self-Injurer Symposium was hosted by University Behavioral Health Center of Denton and Collin’s Counseling Services and Dean of Student’s Office. One-hundred twenty participants registered for the June 15, full-day symposium led by Dr. Wendy Lader, co-founder of S.A.F.E. Alternatives and a national expert on the treatment of individuals who self-injure. Recent statistics indicate that one in five college students self-injure.
