The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission has granted Collin College's associate degree nursing program continuing accreditation. Also, the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas reviewed the 2006 Annual Report for Collin College’s Associate Degree Nursing Program and, as a result, the board rendered a decision to continue full approval status for the nursing program and to issue the following commendation: "The faculty and administration are commended for the graduates' 97.73 percent pass rate on the 2006 NCLEX-RN® examination."

The department of history at Collin College in conjunction with the Archives and Oral History Program of Texas A&M University-Commerce sponsored the 11th Cotton and Rural History Conference hosted by the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum in Greenville. Professor Kyle Wilkison was a major coordinator of the event. Professor Keith Volanto chaired the first session in which professor Sam Tullock delivered a paper.

More than 900 middle school students recently attended a career day at the Central Park Campus hosted by Global Edge/Tech Prep, the largest event in terms of participation for middle school students on a Collin College campus.

Alan Birkelbach, 2005 Texas Poet Laureate, presented a lecture and reading of his poetry titled, "Different Man, Different River," to a packed, standing-room-only audience of more than 150 students, professors and community members at the Preston Ridge Campus, June 6.
