LULAC gets state awards, nationals next

The council and Tinnen will compete at the LULAC National Convention July 9-14 in Chicago.
This is the second year in a row that the Collin College LULAC council has won these two honors at state. On April 21, Tinnen and the LULAC chapter were named the Advisor of the Year and Young Adult Council of the Year, respectively, at regional competition in Dallas.
The Young Adult Council of the Year award is awarded to the group that was most active over the last year. In addition, the council must sponsor a youth council. Collin College’s LULAC sponsors the group at Centennial High School in Frisco. The Collin College LULAC has witnessed success before sweeping the 2003 and 2006 national LULAC awards.
