Collin libraries believe in supporting all facets of your library needs as much as possible. The libraries understand there are times when you want something for professional development, personal growth or relaxation in addition to materials for academic research and growth. The libraries strive to provide those materials that will result in a well-rounded and scholarly community.

For professional development, Collin libraries are committed to providing resources to ensure success in the classroom whether as a faculty member or a student. Such titles as William Bender’s "Learning Disabilities: Characteristics, Identification, and Teaching Strategies" or Donna Tileston’s "10 Best Teaching Practices: How Brain Research, Learning Styles, and Standards Define Teaching Competencies" speak to faculty classroom success.

In working with coworkers’ in the office, the library offers such titles as Tom Markert’s "You Can’t Win a Fight with Your Boss: & 55 Other Rules for Success," Bob Nelson’s "The Management Bible" or the relaxing "60 Second Stress Management" by Andrew Goliszek.

Student success is addressed by such titles as Neil Browne’s "Striving for Excellence in College: Tips for Active Learning" and John Arthur’s "A Concise Guide to College Success: Carpe Diem."

For the multi-taskers, the library has numerous audio books available. To alleviate the long commute, escape with "81 Famous Poems," Dan Brown’s "The Da Vinci Code," Nicholas Sparks' "At First Sight," David McCullough’s "1776" or Stephen Covey’s "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People."

For relaxation the library carries a wide selection of videos/DVDs and CDs to choose from such as "Superman Returns," "Little Miss Sunshine" or "Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl" to more intellectual stimulation of "An Inconvenient Truth," "Syriana" or "The Constant Gardener."

If print is preferred, James Patterson's "Cross" will keep Alex Cross fans on the edge of their seats, John Grisham devotees will pick up "The Innocent Man," or Po Bronson's heart-warming "Why Do I Love These People? Honest and Amazing Stories of Real Families."

If audio books aren’t what you are looking for, then browse the CD music selection for the latest from U2, the soulful voice of Alicia Keys, the classics of The Beatles or hear from emerging bands like Blue October.

From philosophy to pilates, hard facts to humor, a light read for a lunch break or materials for class and/or research projects, Collin librarians can help you find it. Stop by any Collin library or visit the libraries online at
www.ccccd.edu/cs/lrc/lrc.html. Smart Move. Visit your Collin library.
