Collin theatre graduate Michael Urie was among those accepting a Golden Globe award for the hit television show "Ugly Betty." Urie, who plays the character Marc on the show, is also a recipient of the 2002 John Houseman Prize for excellence in classical theatre from the Julliard School, from which he holds an acting degree.

The college received a donation of $20,000 to establish the Felicia Marie Wilems Lee Theatre Endowment. Lee was a Collin graduate who was tragically killed in an automobile accident. After completing her associate's degree at Collin, she completed law school at The University of Texas at Austin. She was a practicing attorney with Hughes & Luce, one of the largest law firms in Dallas.

An article in the Jan. 20 issue of the Dallas Morning News featured a story about the LULAC organization. The article mentions Collin's very own LULAC chapter stating, "In Collin County, the Collin Young Adult Council has become one of the most active LULAC youth chapters in Texas colleges and universities. It has won national LULAC awards three out of the past four years, including a sweep of 2006 state convention awards.”

The Catalyst, a publication of the National Council of Continuing Education and Training, recently featured an article about the Continuing Education and Workforce Development Division. Some of the programs and topics featured include the Strategic Language Institute, Developing Strategic Partnerships with Healthcare Providers, Computer Applications and Business, Global Marketing, Business Solutions Group and Small Business Development Center.

Eleven Collin art students were featured in Cool Hands Hot Art” in the 14th Street Gallery during February. The work showcases the sculpture students from professor Luke Sides’ portfolio class.

Dr. Rosemary Karr
, professor of Developmental Mathematics was named president-elect of the National Association for Developmental Education (NADE). NADE is the largest and most influential professional association in the field with over 2,400 members representing all 50 states. Karr's goals for NADE are to promote legislative awareness of the goals of Developmental Education, to continue partnerships with other educational organizations, and to continue NADE’s efforts with membership, participation and professional development.

, professor of child development and education, was appointed program vice president for the Texas Association of Parent Educators.
