Project SAFE HANDS—services for violence against women
Statistics indicate that 13 percent of college women are stalked during one year of college.

College campuses do not typically discuss the topic of violence; however, whether violence occurs on- or off-campus, students feel the impact. Students who are victims of dating or domestic violence often experience various physical and emotional effects that may lead to early drop-outs, poor academic performance and eventual self-harm. In an effort to prevent dating and domestic violence for Collin students, the college will be launching a campus wide project that provides services for violence against women.

Project SAFE HANDS provides training for the Collin community about recognition, prevention and available resources. Students will receive monthly updates in Cougar News, informational pamphlets and on-site, as well as online, training.

With each of these efforts in progress, Collin strives to create a campus environment that promotes student safety, awareness of issues concerning violence against women and support to those impacted by violence.
