Alecia Nicole Jenkins and Alana Britt Lara were named NJCAA Academic All-Americans. Jenkins, a tennis player, has a 3.66 grade point average, and Lara, basketball, was honored for her 3.60 grade point average.
Dance students Kali Drake, Meredith Knight, Ashley Franco, Krisi Monti, Jonee Johnston and Philip Elson were awarded dance scholarships for the fall 2006 semester.

Jennifer O’Loughlin Brooks, professor of psychology, was named the associate editor of the Journal of Psychological Inquiry.
Collin President Cary Israel was selected as a recipient of the Collin County League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Community Service Award. Israel was saluted for serving as an inspiration to young adults in our community.
Photography chair and professor Byrd Williams was featured in an exhibition titled “Photographic Background” at Texas A&M University-Commerce from Nov. 6-Dec. 6. Williams also presented the lecture “Four Generations of Texas Photographers.”
Applied Graphic Design Technology professor Mark Kaufmann garnered eight awards from the Texas Association of Telecommunication Officers and Advisors Government Programming Awards for his work on Allen City Television.
Art professor Rebecca Boatman was one of 44 artists featured at four art centers through the White Rock Lake 2006 Artist’s Studio Tour.
The Collin Public Relations Department was awarded five District 4 Medallion awards from the National Council on Marketing and Public Relations at the District 4 Conference in Albuquerque, Oct. 9. The gold Medallion winners were: Plain and Fancy Ball 2006 Media Campaign, Media Success Story; Dance Fusion Program, Brochure/Flyer 2; “Speaker Recounts Experiences with KKK” by Mark Robinson, Feature Article/General News Story. Silver Medallion: Plant Research Photo by Nick Young, Color Photography. Bronze Medallion: President’s Circle Dinner Program, Nifty and Thrifty.
Theatre Professor Gail Cronauer was featured in the Oct. 11 edition of The Dallas Morning News in an article in the New Directions, Theatre section, titled "Gail Cronauer's on board for ‘Orpheus Descending,' and that's not all." The article does an excellent job of presenting Gail's experiences and in relating her enthusiasm and love of acting and teaching.
Director of Nursing Dr. Nell Ard presented "Providing Optimal Clinical Experiences for Student Nurses by Improving Staff-Student Relationships: A Dialog" at the National League for Nursing (NLN) Summit in New York City as part of the National Task Force on Clinical Nursing Education that she chairs.
Rosemary Karr, professor of developmental math, is a member of The AMATYC Review Editorial Panel. The piece is published by the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges.
