Collin tennis players teach Special Olympians court skills
Collin tennis players served up a good time for local Special Olympians.

Collin tennis players worked with members of the Plano Special Olympics
For the fourth consecutive year, the men’s and women’s teams welcomed members of the Plano Special Olympics squad for a series of sessions including individual instruction about the basics of tennis.

“(The sessions) are on a personal level -- one on one,” tennis head coach Marty Berryman said. “It’s a positive experience, and it’s getting bigger and bigger.”

Last year, about 18 Special Olympians attended. This year, they are averaging between 24-28 Special Olympians per session.

“It’s a learning experience that benefits both (the tennis players and Special Olympians) groups, and they enjoy it,” Berryman said. “In addition, there are young ladies and gentlemen that are learning how to hit the tennis ball. It’s great.”

For more information about the program, contact Berryman at 972.881.5884.
