College News
The college was awarded a grant of $206,214 from the U.S. Justice Department Office on Violence Against Women. This award provides an opportunity to develop and strengthen effective responses to violence again women and the college will work with Hope’s Door and The Turning Point to further prevention, education and intervention in regards to domestic violence and sexual assault.

Collin's Student Life held Welcome Week Round Up activities at each of the campuses during Sept. 4-8. The Round Up was a stunning success thanks to the help of more than 100 volunteers and workers. At the Spring Creek Campus alone, more than 1,500 students participated. Many enjoyed the mechanical bull, the roping game, wanted posters, and more. Seventeen student organizations participated to recruit new members.

The August 2006 edition of NACCTEP News, the newsletter of the National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs, featured a spotlight on Collin's Teaching, Learning and Professional Development Program located in Allen High School and quotes Associate Vice President of Strategic Initiatives Brenda Kihl.

Collin is now part of the Texas Common Application system through the state of Texas. Students can go to
www.applytexas.org and apply to our college directly from this site. The State of Texas passed a law that requires all community colleges to be a part of the Common Application System by fall 2008.
