Quick Facts

Collin has conducted periodic community surveys since 1996 to assess awareness and approval of the college among the county’s adult residents. Longitudinal data from these surveys is condensed in the following tables. The surveys measure levels of awareness ranging from completely unaware of Collin to respondents who had taken classes at one of Collin’s campuses.  The approval items were measured on a five-point scale ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. Overall, there has been an increase in the awareness of Collin among the adult residents of the county. Likewise, the community’s approval of Collin continues to increase over time.

While looking at the data, it should be kept in mind that, unlike the other surveys, the 2001 survey was integrated into a broader survey administered in preparation for a bond election. Hence the sample of the survey was derived from registered voters rather than the county’s general adult population, thus introducing some unintended positive bias into the results that year.
