Health and Fitness -- Free services abound for students
The Greater Dallas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse is providing free HIV testing at the Spring Creek Campus from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. the last Tuesday of the month beginning in September.

The test utilizes an oral swab and does not require a blood draw. Confidential results are available within 30-40 minutes.

According to Texas Department of Health Surveillance Report, Collin County experienced a 57 percent increase in new HIV infections in the last year alone. An individual's health, and the health of the community, depends on the practice of safe behaviors, and, if necessary, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Do you have questions about your need to be tested? If you have had unprotected sex, or if you have shared needles while using IV drugs, you are at risk.

Call Robert Reeves at 214.725.5916 to make an appointment for the test.

When life becomes challenging you can moderate your stress, stay healthy and on the road of success.  Here’s how:

  • Be realistic—too much responsibility? Prioritize what is necessary
  • Drop “superman/woman” mentality—being perfect is a myth
  • Reflect—collect your thoughts
  • Plan ahead
  • Exercise
  • Maintain healthy lifestyle—eat well, sleep, limit alcohol/caffeine
  • Share feelings—talk to a friend
  • Hobbies
  • Be flexible—open-minded and willing to compromise
  • Take one thing at a time—accomplishment will encourage you
