College News
The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) has published “A Leading Forward Report - Growing Your Own Leaders: Community Colleges Step Up” highlighting college and university leadership programs including Collin's Academy for Collegiate Excellence (ACE), which was noted as the only community college district program in the nation. There are 16 single campus colleges and four states that have programs of this nature.
The Texas All-Star Jazz Camp hosted more than 125 students from the area in late-July making the week-long event the largest camp ever at the college. The camp included six performances and assistance from associate faculty Kevin McNerney, Thom Burchill and Kent Ellingston. Distinguished guest artists included Jimmy Heath, a three-time Grammy-nominated tenor saxophonist, and Matt Harris, director of Jazz Studies at California State University-Northridge.
Collin’s dental hygiene program ranks in the top 6 percent in the nation in dental hygiene board results. The program’s board score results were No. 15 out of 256 two- and four-year dental hygiene programs across the United States (weighted results) and No. 11 out of 256 programs in the total numerical score (non-weighted results).
