TWC awards another grant to Collin
Collin received a $564,254 grant from the Texas Workforce Commission to provide advanced manufacturing and information technology training to employees of local companies.

The Texas Workforce Commission grant will provide training for 782 employees in organizational processes, management, communications, high tech and industrial topics and information technology. The training program will begin in late February or early March.

“These grants are very competitive, and we work very hard to bring these opportunities to the employees of Collin County,” Israel said. “The employees of these many fine companies benefit from the training they receive from us, and their companies, in turn, benefit from having more highly skilled employees. It is a double-victory for businesses in Collin County. We appreciate and value the leadership and support of the Texas Workforce Commission. This unique partnership ensures a vibrant and competitive workforce for Texas.”

Business partners in the consortium – companies whose employees will benefit from the training – include: All Metals Fabricating, Inc.; Mykrolis; Photronics, Inc.; Camozzi Pneumatics; Manner Plastics; Cityon Systems, Inc.; Stewart Systems, Inc.; Special Products & Manufacturing, Inc.; and Holland USA.

This is the sixth grant from the Texas Workforce Commission, now totaling more than $3.5 million that Collin has received to train and assist employees in local companies.

The training has benefited more than 3,700 employees at a range of companies throughout Collin County.
