The 2006 Mens & Womens tennis teams
Going into this new season, the Collin men’s and women’s tennis squads have an opportunity to serve up some national honors.

Tobias Virdhage
The men’s team is ranked No. 3 nationally in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the women are ranked No. 9. On top of that, the men’s team has the No. 1 ranked player nationally, Tobias Virdhage. The women’s squad will feature Irene George, a 22-year-old from the Soloman Islands.

Irene George
“I am extremely excited about this bunch of young men and women,” Head Coach Marty Berryman said. “I think we will be one of the teams that can make it to the finals at nationals.”

According to Berryman, the success of the teams depend on how well conditioned the team is and how they are able to avoid injuries and the players are currently working out to get ready for the season, which started with the 17th annual CCCC Open Feb. 10-11. After the season opening, Collin hosted the CCCC Quad Feb. 17-18 and the CCCC Super Six Feb. 24-25. Both events featured four- and two-year schools.
