Collin was named the "Education Organization of the Year" by the North Central Texas WorkForce Board at their annual Awards of Excellence luncheon Nov. 29. This award is the result of a strong partnership between the college and the workforce board and the successful training projects deployed by Collin's Center for Workforce and Economic Development. "The workforce system relies on forward thinking partners in the field of education to provide up-to-the-minute training and demand driven courses. Collin County Community College continues to step up to the plate with innovative training programs," NCTWB said.

The Communities Foundation of Texas will be granting Collin’s Foundation $15,000 toward the expansion of the James and Pat Aston Center for Health Studies.

The Humanities Department hosted the first annual Student Creativity Exhibit and reception in the Spring Creek Campus Atrium Dec. 9. Forty-three exhibitors displayed their creative projects which were met with enthusiastic response. More than 100 students, faculty and staff viewed the show during the day and about 80 people attended the afternoon reception.
Three Collin students were named to the Texas All-State Community College Jazz Band and will perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio in February. The students were Young Heo, bass; Juan Moreno, jazz guitar; and Jordan Goldblatt, baritone saxophone. Drummer Josh Cuadra placed third in state competition.
