January Calendar Dates
The Auteur Film Series, titled “Food for Thought,” will present “Mostly Martha” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. The film centers around Martha, the obsessive head chef of an upscale German restaurant. Martha’s world is turned upside down after her sister dies in a car accident and she is left to care for her eight-year-old niece. A flamboyant sous-chef, Mario, is hired and helps lighten the tension between Martha’s work and home life. The film is 109 minutes and is rated PG. Following the movie, a panel discussion led by several Collin faculty and staff will be held in order to discuss the film and its themes. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and seating is limited. The screening is free and open to the public. “The Vagina Monologues” by Eve Ensler will be hosted by Collin Theatre Cares Friday-Sunday, Feb. 10-12 at the Black Box theatre, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinee is at 2:15 p.m. General admission is $10 and $8 for senior citizens and students. Business and community leaders will get a sneak preview of the local economy at the 2006 Collin County Economic Summit set for Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006. The event will take place 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Collin County Community College District's Spring Creek Campus Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Early-bird registration is $40 and seating is limited. Late registration is $50. Registration after Jan. 20 is $50. Reserve your space today by calling 972-612-2425.

The Quad C Theatre will host auditions for Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror (Puppet) Show,” directed by Brad Baker and Dane Hoffman. The theatre is casting five women, four men and six-10 puppeteers who sing. Cast should be in their 20s and 30s. The audition is between 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the John Anthony Theatre at the Spring Creek Campus. Callbacks will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18. It is an open call and no appointments will be arranged. Those auditioning should prepare 16 bars of any rock and roll song in the style of the show.
