Faculty Association gets a facelift for the new year

Barbara Lusk,
Faculty Association president

There is an arena in which faculty can come together.

The Faculty Association is a formal organization developed to provide a forum in which the faculty as a whole can communicate and work with administration, student services and other faculty.

The association meets the second Friday of every month. All full-time faculty or faculty with more than 50 percent teaching loads or instructional associates can become members. Dues are $20.

All faculty are invited to meetings, but only members can vote, according to Barbara Lusk, 2005-06 Faculty Association president. Members also can join association committees including policy, projects, constitution and rules, and compensation and benefits.

The association has changed since last year, when it was called the Faculty Senate, a body of 50 faculty members.

“This change, I believe, represents a desire to be a more inclusive group, with all faculty encouraged to join, vote and participate in the work of the association,” Lusk said.

The association plans to continue participating in the CCCCD Foundation’s student scholarship fundraising and caring for its adopted highway in Plano and Frisco.

For more information about the Faculty Association, contact Lusk at 972.548.6809.
