Meet the Cougar News correspondents
Name: Stephanie Hall
Major of study: Art history, creative writing
Year: sophomore
Where do you live? Plano
How long have you been a writer? I've been writing pieces for over five years now. I have worked for the Cougar News for a handful of months now. Before that, I wrote for several military publications.
Future aspirations: I am hoping that with a little patience and a lot of hard work, I will eventually own my own art gallery.
What are your hobbies? I really love photography, horses and losing myself in a good, long novel.
What is your favorite color? Green
What is one interesting fact that many don't know about you? I am a full-blooded Navajo, and I grew up on the Navajo Reservation.

Name: Sydney Portilla-Diggs
Major of study: English and sociology
Year: Collin graduate, current junior at Austin College.
What do you love about Collin? Collin is a diverse place. I have made friends from every age group and every ethnic group. I think Collin has a very fertile environment. I have grown tremendously here.
How long have you been a writer? I started writing pieces about a year ago. But trust me, I always had an opinion about everything.
Future aspirations: I have a few books that I am working on. I hope to keep writing while I work here at Collin. I aspire to go on the lecture circuit teaching about race awareness and inclusion.
What are your hobbies? I love to sing and dance. I am an amazing cook—one of the natural ones that make up their own recipes.
What kind of music/musical artists do you listen to? I usually like most music. I love classical music—Debussy and Tchaikovsky. I love old R&B like Al Green, and Barry White. I like neo-soul artists Jill Scott and India Arie. I am really into reggaeton — especially Daddy Yankee and Don Omar, salsa and the like. I still love disco! Sorry!
What is your favorite color: I like to look at blue and red. I love wearing black. I think colors make me look too conspicuous.
What is one interesting fact that many don't know about you? My mom named me Sydney by accident. If I had been a boy, my name would have been Michael. As a girl, I was supposed to be named Stan-Leigh! But due to the medication, she could only remember the name Sydney—just like her favorite actor, Sidney Poitier.
