An Evening of MONOPOLY On Ice:
CCCCD Foundation, Inc. hosts fourth annual fundraiser

The Collin County Community College District Foundation, Inc.’s fourth annual An Evening of MONOPOLY® is set, and this year the “Hat Trick” kicks off on ice!

Face-off in teams of six for a one-hour game of the NHL Collector’s Edition of Monopoly® at 7:11 p.m., Friday, March 19, at the Dr Pepper StarCenter, 2601 Avenue of the Stars in Frisco.

Local companies can join the fun while helping students who may not be able to attend college without the financial assistance.

Proceeds from the evening’s power plays will support student scholarships.

This fast-paced, interactive fundraiser has garnered more than $387,000 since its first roll of the dice in 2001.

“MONOPOLY® has been a great fundraiser for CCCCD. Thanks to the generosity of the business community, faculty, staff and administration, CCCCD has been able to provide scholarships for many deserving students who could not otherwise pursue their education,” said Sam Roach, chair of the CCCCD Board of Trustees.

Last year, the college awarded more than $9.9 million in financial aid and scholarships. In fall 2003 alone, the college awarded more than $10 million. Because of the continued growth in enrollment and applications for scholarships, however, the college was only able to fulfill a small percentage of those requesting financial assistance. That, organizers say, is why MONOPOLY® is so important.

“An Evening of MONOPOLY® is an essential part of the Foundation’s strategy for providing scholarships. The unique thing about the event is the diversity of its participants, ranging from individuals to foundations to corporations who have a passion for education. The success of An Evening of MONOPOLY® demonstrates that even in tough economic times people still care about the future of education,” said EDS’s Robert Keahey, chair of the CCCCD Foundation, Inc. board of directors.

Sponsorship levels range from $20,000 to $1,000. Categories play on the hockey theme and include Stanley Cup ($20,000), Luxury Box ($10,000), Center Ice ($5,000), Hat Trick ($3,000), Avenue of the Stars ($2,000) and Slap Shot ($1,000).
