Chapter Luncheon
Friday, December 2, 2005
Bob Owen serves as the Managing Director of the TSCPA Office of Regulation and Legislation. This legislative year was filled with interesting developments including two failed Special Sessions to fix School Finance. Come hear Mr. Owen talk about how the TSCPA impacted the legislative session. Ask questions on legislative issues past and current. Find out what areas we as CPAs need to be watching. As always, Bob’s perspective on the legislative activities will be entertaining and informative.

Help Your Chapter (and Yourself) by Recruiting Members
You can help your chapter win the CPA or student member recruitment challenge this fall! Plus, if your name is listed on an application as the sponsor, you’ll receive a gift. Contact your executive director or Membership Committee chair to volunteer and get materials. The deadline is soon, so act now.

Financial Literacy
Do you enjoy speaking about personal finance and small business topics? If so, sign up for TSCPA’s speakers bureau. TSCPA is looking for CPAs to speak at community and civic programs and to the media. There are talking points, speeches and PowerPoint presentations to make each speaking opportunity as easy as possible. The speakers bureau is one way for CPAs to become involved in TSCPA’s ongoing 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy effort. To volunteer, contact Sarah Seals. (E-mail sseals@tscpa.net; phone 800-428-0272, ext. 688, or 972-687-8688.)

Build Your Network
You can build a network of other CPAs from around the state by serving on a TSCPA committee. Dec. 9 is the deadline to volunteer for the 2006-2007 service year. Study the list of available committees in the Volunteer member community, accessible through the Members Only section of the TSCPA Web site (www.tscpa.org). Then click the Volunteer Now link to sign up.

Directory of Services Available Online
Your TSCPA Directory of Services is available now! The directory is a handy reference guide with information about the Society's Executive Board, officers, committees, and chapters. You’ll want to bookmark it as one of your favorites because it also includes helpful numbers, information about the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and TSCPA staff numbers. You can access this and other useful guides through the TSCPA Web site (www.tscpa.org). Just click the Directory button near the top of the screen.
