Your Voice in Austin
Just because the general election is over doesn't mean that TSCPA CPA-PAC contributions are not needed. After the elections, the PAC evaluates the winners who were not previously supported to determine if the TSCPA CPA-PAC should now provide some support. Also, many legislators will ask the PAC for help in retiring their campaign debt ... which means additional PAC contributions are needed.
The 2003 Legislative Session will likely have legislators dealing with such issues as the passage of a new Texas Public Accountancy Act as a result of the Sunset Review process and various tax proposals to deal with the state's budget shortfall. We can't have unfriendly or uninformed legislators voting on these issues. CPAs must be part of the process. Through your contribution to the PAC, Texas CPAs will have a strong voice in Austin.
Remember: 75 percent of your contribution remains at the chapter level for use in local races; only 25 percent is used for contributions to statewide candidates.
