The Toros will host their fourth annual draft party Friday, November 7th beginning at 6 p.m. at Champions Sports Bar on 4th and Trinity. Toros Head Coach Quin Snyder, Assistant Coach Wendell Alexis, Spurs front office personnel, team mascot Da Bull and the Capital City Dancers will attend to greet fans and kick-off the 2008-09 season. There will be games and Toros prizes, along with happy hour drink specials from 6 to 8 p.m.
“I thought it would be hard not to improve on last year's draft position but we managed,” said Toros head coach Quin Snyder. “The advantage is we will have two consecutive picks - 16 and 17. I have a lot of confidence in Dell Demps and our coaching staff’s ability to evaluate players. Draft night is a fun night no matter where you pick,” said Snyder.
The Austin Toros were awarded the 16th pick in the 2008 NBA Development League draft which will be held on Friday, Nov. 7. The draft lottery took place in Dallas, TX on Monday at the League's annual Fall Meetings.
