Waller Creek District Vision Survey Available Online

Austin residents are invited to share their opinions through an online survey about the vision of the Waller Creek District, which includes both the public and private property along the downtown creek. The survey is available at the project’s Web site, www.cityofaustin.org/wallercreek. Deadline to submit responses is May 31.

The City began the public outreach process to collect this information in November 2007 when the first Public Design Workshop for the Waller Creek Tunnel and Master Plan Project was conducted. During that workshop, staff asked about the desired character of the creek area and what activities should be available. A survey was also distributed asking similar questions

City of Austin Early Voting Beings April 28th

Early voting for the May 10 municipal election begins April 28, 2008, and continues through May 6, 2008. Voters will choose three seats on the Austin City Council-Places 1, 3 and 4.

For early voting locations, Election Day polling sites and other election information, check the City’s web site at www.cityofaustin.org/election.

The Capital City Chamber is proud to announce our Annual Business Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, June 4, 2008. This luncheon will highlight our members for their accomplishments made over the past year.

African American Quality of Life Initiative Accomplishments Highlighted

The City of Austin has made tremendous progress in implementing community desires during the past two years of the African American Quality of Life Initiative, according to a project update presented to City Council today.

"It's been an extremely productive time," Assistant City Manager Mike McDonald said. "I'm pleased to report that all of the initiatives brought forward by the implementation teams are in place or are currently ongoing."

Launched in 2005, the African American Quality of Life Initiative began as the City assessed the conditions and sentiment of the African American community through a series of discussions and presentations to City Council.

TxDOT Establishes Mentor-Protégé Program

The Texas Department of Transportation is committed to providing information to vendors who are seeking to do business with their agency.
 
In an effort to increase small business participation in bidding and performing on TxDOT contracts, the Business Opportunities Programs Office has established the LINC Mentor-Protégé Program. Learning, Information, Network and Collaboration (LINC) is a small business mentoring and business development program in which TxDOT serve as mentors to selected small business protégées.
