Our New Member, Youth Pathways, Opens Opportunities for other Chamber Members
Members Now have Exceptional Options for Volunteering and Speaking
According
to the Founder of Youth Pathways, J. Frank Powell, “We are pleased to be new members of The
Capital City African-American Chamber, and are delighted to open our
organization to Chamber members who want a meaningful way to volunteer or serve
as speakers for our group..”
Youth
Pathways is a 501.3c non profit organization providing hope to students by
showing them the path to future career, college and life opportunities through
self-engagement. It is a voluntary
in-school pull-out program targeting middle and high school students who are
not involved or engaged in other activities.
Usually these students have fallen under the radar and do not have
discipline issues. They are typically
under served and in danger of dropping out.

TxDOT Establishes Mentor-Protégé Program
The
Texas Department of Transportation is committed to providing information to
vendors who are seeking to do business with their agency.
In an effort to increase small business
participation in bidding and performing on TxDOT contracts, the Business Opportunities
Programs Office has established the LINC Mentor-Protégé Program. Learning,
Information, Network and Collaboration (LINC) is a small business mentoring and
business development program in which TxDOT serve as mentors to selected small
business protégées.

City of Austin Holds Economic Development Stakeholder Meeting

This meeting is in response to the AAQL initiative and will provide feedback for the creation of the City of Austin’s Action Plan on how funds are allocated for fiscal year 2008-2009.
