Enjoying Cognac -- The Vintage Label

There are many qualities that distinguish cognacs, including the origin of the grapes, the blend and the length of time the cognac ages in wooden casks.  During the aging process, cognac develops its signature aroma, taste and color as time plays an important role in the creation of the finished product.

VS (Very Special)

The youngest stock of cognac, which is aged at least two-and-a-half
years, represent the largest percentage of global cognac sales.

VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale)

VSOP cognac is aged for a minimum of four-and-a-half years.

XO (Extra Old)

Extra old cognac is aged for a minimum of six-and-a-half years.
However, most of these vintages, which are often the most expensive,
contain cognac that is more than 30 years old.
