(February 5, 2007) The Bentley’s
Central Valley Classic brings international bicycle racing to the Central
Valley for three days in March. This
year the race will partner with a new and progressive market and bistro,
Bentley’s Fine Foods.
CVC Race director Mike Shuemake sees the partnership as a perfect fit as the Central
Valley Classic brings European style stage racing which compliments Bentley’s
old world European style market, both adding some culture. The Bentley’s Central Valley Classic will showcase
the Market’s restaurant at Ft. Washington and Friant during two events; the
annual “Meet the Riders Dinner and Benefit” on March 7
th and the
Bentley’s Central Valley Classic media event on March 8
th. The race will feature three unique venues
throughout the valley, road racing out of Raymond, CA on March 9
th, time
trial racing through the foothills from Belmont and Piedra on March 10
th, and
the highlight of the weekend, Sunday the 11
th, the sixth annual
Tower District Criterium. For the sixth
straight year the race will be held within the historic Tower District,
providing spectator friendly professional racing featuring former Olympians,
National Champions and some of the best pro teams in the world. The kid’s race starting at 12:30 is always a
crowd favorite, providing various aged kids the opportunity to give bike racing
a go. Our own Fresno riders, regional teams and National riders race throughout
the day within various age and ability amateur racing categories. All racing events are free to the public
with activities for the entire family throughout the Tower from restaurants to
watering holes.
Central Valley Cycling or CVC is our home-grown, premier
racing club in California's central San Joaquin valley. Based in Fresno, riders
from all age groups and skill levels train and race together wearing the CVC
white and blue jersey.
