Chateaubriand, also known as beef tenderloin, is by far my favorite choice for Christmas dinner and the only wines that I consider bold enough to stand up to rare or medium rare beef are Cabernet, Merlot or a Bordeaux Blend. Here is a list of some wines between $20-$30 that I think are a perfect match for Chateaubriand.

Cheese Department

Holiday Fondues:
Here's a holiday favorite, blue cheese, honey fondue. Using the highest quality St.Agur or Gorgonzola, or a traditional fondue made with imported fontina and cave aged Gruyere. Both of these make great holiday appetizers that will please your guest.

Here is the recipe:
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 cups gorgonzola or blue cheese
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts

In a small sauce pan heat cream and cornstarch over medium heat. Add lemon juice, cook until mixture thickens.

Add Cheese one spoonful at a time, stirring until cheese is melted.

When All cheese is melted stir in honey.

Transfer to ceramic or enameled fondue pot. Sprinkle toastecd walnuts and keep warm. Serve immediatley with figs, dates, apricots, and apples, or dried fruits. Happy Holidays

Seasons Greetings!!! Bentley's Deli is here to help you with all your holiday needs, party trays, appetizers, hot dinners, and salads. Just give our Deli a call at 892-4207.

A delicious Christmas ham dinner is being prepared by our chefs. The dinner includes 6-8lb ham, green beans & shallots, roasted red potatoes, broccoli crunch salad, candied yams, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie. Dinner serves 6-8 people and costs only $89.99.

You can order the sides only for just $69.99 and order a scrumptous prime rib in our meat department. Pre roasted diestel turkeys will be available in our deli case, includes herb butter $3.26 per pound.

December is a very busy month for all, so if you want to save time, Bentley's Fresh Produce Market has fresh squeezed pomegranate juice from home grown cellars in Madera. It's great for making jams & jellies or an excellent healthy drink since we are talking fresh squeezed pomegranate juice.

New crop shelled nuts for your Holiday Baking needs have just arrived from local farmers. Fresh Romaine and Red Leaf Lettuce from T&D Willey Farmers as well as sweet anise are still being harvested. We will be ready for all your fresh produce fixings for the Holidays.
