The Group is headquartered in Bahrain and is wholly owned by the Kanoo family. The Company has been trading continuously since 1890 and now operates from owned offices in all the major cities of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council).
The Company’s roots go back to pearl fishing and its early association with the Anglo Persian Oil Company which moved it into the role of a shipping agent. A logical step was the refueling of the flying boats of Imperial Airways on their way from England to India. This early relationship survives to this day; although Imperial Airways disappeared to become eventually BOAC and finally British Airways whom Kanoo represent in Bahrain and the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
The advent of growth and dominance in the oil industry led the expansion from the early days as a shipping and travel agent into commercial agencies and joint ventures with some of the Major global players in many industrial and service sectors.
