Vishing is a new term that refers to scam artists "fishing" for information from recipients of an automated phone call or those that may have been in receipt of an broadcast email or even door-to-door salespeople. We are repeating the article in the latest issue of THE BRIEF here because we received a call just today from a local member who received a call from one of his customers asking about the call they had received from his "representative." Of course, there are no representatives with this company making calls.
We can only surmise that the alleged representative was calling legitimate customers of our member "vishing" for information such as bank account numbers - using the ruse that there was an error in the data, etc.
BEWARE, it may be someone trying to scam you...
