GOLF TOURNAMENT: As you know, the BBB and Lubbock Advertising Federation are co-sponsoring our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, October 7. It’s important to get registered early. Here’s a link to our secure online registration form. You can also pay here by check or credit card. If you have any questions, please call on your member line. We will also have some great sponsorship opportunities. Watch for more information!

EMPLOYEE POSTER: Have you given your employees the “Members Only” phone numbers and email addresses to the BBB?

Your membership in the BBB is a great employee benefit. A well-informed employee is a happy employee. If he/she is mulling over a decision on whether or not to purchase something OR if he/she is hassling over a transaction, they won’t be very productive at work. That costs you money!

Your membership in the BBB is something that your employees can use, without charge, to stay informed, knowledgeable and satisfied as a consumer in today’s marketplace.

We have a great poster for you to hang in your offices so that your employees will always know how to contact us. It contains information about how you support the BBB and how you encourage them to use the BBB as a resource of information and help. If you would like a copy of this poster, we can either email or snail-mail it. Just let us know how many you need and how you want them sent. Send your request to members@bbbsouthplains.org or call on your Member Line.

BBBTIPS.ORG: "Unbiased and non-commercial information from your Better Business Bureau and Ethical Businesses in your area" I’m excited to announce that the following members have agreed to sponsor one of the national educational tips at www.bbbtips.org.

AUTOMAX (Buying a New Car)
MADISON MORTGAGE (Mortgage Choices)
STEWART TITLE OF LUBBOCK, INC. (Title Companies)
W.T. ENTERPRISES (Home Remodeling)

This is a one-of-a-kind online consumer information program that will provide information to the consumers of the world and only BBB members can sponsor the messages. I would encourage you go to visit the site and see all the different kinds of information messages that are available and if you are interested, contact John Etchieson at jetchieson@bbbcef.org.

The plan is to have a link to the BBBTIPS.org site on our main web site. Please see the article entitled Handy Suggestions for Air Travel here in THE BRIEF, the first in a series of national articles that is part of this enhanced consumer education program.

REPORTING NON-MEMBERSHIP: In an effort to make BBB reliability reports as meaningful as possible and to alleviate the confusion that some consumers have about whether or not a company is a member of the BBB, the BBB system voted recently to not only continue reporting when a company is a member, but to report when a company is not a member. This simple statement of fact will clarify to the thousands that seek reliability reports to understand that the BBB reports on members and non-members as well.

That’s all for now,
Nan
