The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado Foundation presented its first $2500 scholarship based on ethics at the 2008 Excellence in Customer Service Award Dinner on September 25th.
The scholarship was awarded to Marcus Calvin, a graduate of Doherty High School. In addition to his involvement with the Future Business Leaders of America, Marcus played basketball and participated in track and field events.
His ambition is to do research in the world of pharmaceuticals concentrating on a cure for diabetes and sickle cell anemia. Marcus is currently attending the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs majoring in chemistry.
Marcus' application for the scholarship included an essay on "What Ethics Mean to Me" in which he detailed his every day use of ethics in academic and social situations.
This scholarship was made possible through the generosity of Accredited Businesses of your Better Business Bureau and through the BBB of Southern Colorado Foundation. Applicants were from high schools throughout southern Colorado who would be attending a college in Colorado.
