THE MOST COMMON MISTAKE ACCREDITED BUSINESSES MAKE
Every couple of months, the Better Business Bureau of the Southwest (BBBSW) staff must present to the President, Jerry Shipman, an Accredited Business that must be put up for cancellation for cause before the BBB Board of Directors Executive Committee. You might have seen a business with a Comments/Analysis section, which reads something like, “This company’s BBB accreditation was suspended by the Board of Directors Executive Committee for…” What this means is that Mr. Shipman must sign a letter to an Accredited Business stating that we are “revoking” them, legalese for being kicked out of the club that is the BBB. These complaints are reported to inquirers for three years or until the firm responds, in writing, to the complaints. Unanswered complaints disqualify a firm from BBB accreditation.
