The
Guide focuses on proactive education against scams that target students,
popular consumer myths, and credit card traps. Also covered is information
regarding identity theft, checking a credit report and how to file a complaint
against a business.
Area
BBB Accredited Businesses and a comprehensive “go to” list for other agencies
that young consumers may need are listed. The BBB Advisory Committee has seen
this to be a need fulfilled as young consumers are often less educated to the
many ways they can lose money before they realize it.
Both
parents and students have expressed appreciation for receiving the Guide and
access to getting answers to other questions in the 21 Resource Fairs held thru
June and July. Additional copies have also been supplied to the Athens Area
Apartment Association to distribute to students who may be living on their own
for the first time.
