Seeing What's Next:
Using Theories of Innovation to Predict Industry Change
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1591391...
by Renaissance Staff
This is one of the new hot books on innovation by the guy who brought you the Innovator's Dilemma This innovation topic won't go away. It was on Business Week's cover this week. Maybe the top executives at General Motors should start reading this. Who came up with the "Alero" anyway!?! This book can help them! You might get some great ideas for your work as well. Great summer reading if you need some serious stuff!
Seeing What's Next offers a practical, three-part model that helps decision-makers spot the signals of industry change, determine the outcome of competitive battles, and assess whether a firm's actions will ensure or threaten future success. Through in-depth case studies of industries from aviation to health care, the authors illustrate the predictive power of innovation theory in action.

It's Summer, So Run for Results!
If You Must Run, Measure It!
www.mapmyrun.com
by Renaissance Staff
The astronaut, Wally Schirra once said "any form of human exercise that isn't fun is bad for the human nervous system." We agree. As Mark Twain once said "every time I get the urge to exercise, I lay down immediately until the urge passes." That's what we call REAL self-disipline. That said, we understand that there actually are health nuts out there who run and like doing it. If you must run (do it on your doctors advice only), you might love this site for measuring your results...

We are only half-kidding and realize that this sounds like getting advice from an evangelist from the Industrial Age who turned Luddite on you. But here are 5 tips to free up dozens of hours per week for real results...

The Consultant's Featured Destination
http://www.minneapolis.org
Hey, it's true about consultants. Nobody respects anything you have to say unless you come from another city at least 3 hours away! So we get around! We decided to feature some of the great spots where our clients are located. Naturally, we can't tell you who they are (we would have to kill you) but we can indeed, tell you why they are smart to live where they do...this issue it's Minneapolis, Minnesota!

Broccoli Rabe Crostini with Crotonese and Black Pepper - Oregani Oil
from Simple Italian Food by Mario Batali
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0609603...
by Renaissance Food Review Staff
Although we are not Italian, our company name is from the Renaissance, which could have only started in Italy. Each Renaissance Perspective Newsletter has a great Italian recipe or tip related to something Italian.
We are straight-out huge fans of Mario Batali, the chef, the man, his restaurants and his books. He has lived and studied Italian food his whole life. So this is an outright plug for you to visit all his restaurants, watch him on the Food Channel and buy his books. Hopefully, he won't sue us for recommending him and quoting a short recipe for our book review. It's one of his great and healthly recipes that is great for the summer!
