AOPL Committed to Working with New Congressional Leaders
With the second of the two sessions of the 109th Congress coming to a close, AOPL is preparing to work with a new Congress, beginning in January. Not only will Democrats assume control of both the House and Senate—meaning changes in committee leadership—but many new faces from both parties were voted into office.

AOPL Welcomes New President
On Nov. 15, Shirley Neff joined the Association of Oil Pipe Lines as president. Most recently, she served as an adjunct lecturer and research scholar at Columbia University’s Center for Energy, Marine Transportation and Public Policy. She is also the current president of the U.S. Association for Energy Economics (USAEE), a professional organization.

Joint Survey Program Gauges Effectiveness of Pipeline Public Awareness Efforts
The Association of Oil Pipe Lines (AOPL), the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) are conducting a joint survey program to help pipeline operators measure the effectiveness of their public awareness programs. A total of 28 liquids and gas transmission companies have signed up for the program.
