EPA Revises Fuel Test Methods
The Environmental Protection Agency issued a direct final rule on April 3, with a corresponding proposed rule that updates its gasoline and diesel fuels programs regulations on several test method issues.  This rule ensures that certain fuel testing requirements are more up-to-date by having refiners and laboratories use the most current versions of American Society for Testing and Materials Committee D.02 analytical test methods.

Increased Ethanol Use Creates Challenges
This spring, demand for ethanol for blending in gasoline is likely to increase, creating challenges for pipeline companies and possibly spurring increases in consumer gasoline prices.  An increase in ethanol demand is expected because of pressure to reduce use of MTBE in gasoline, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) recently reported.
