AOPL Calls for Reauthorization of Pipeline Act
Mike Mears, chairman of the Association of Oil Pipe Lines, testified on behalf of AOPL and the American Petroleum Institute before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Highway, Transit and Pipelines. He said that the Pipeline Safety Improvement Act of 2002 is widely recognized as a success, continues to improve safety performance, and it should be reauthorized for five more years.

FERC Nominations
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has been without a full slate of five commissioners for some time. This month the President announced his intention to nominate Jon Wellinghoff, of Nevada, and Philip D. Moeller, of Washington, to the commission.

AOPL Supports Public Access to Pipeline Mapping Data
The Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA) developed the National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS) to identify pipeline facilities. Much of that system information is classified.

PIPELINE COMMUNITY: 19th Annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run Raises $145,000 for Texas Youth
Nearly 6,400 participants took part in the 19th annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run, raising $145,000 for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ Educational Fund, setting a new record. Since the ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run began in 1988, the company has donated more than $1.6 million toward college scholarships for Texas youth.
