Congress Halted on Legislation to Address Oil Supply Concerns
Efforts to address the nation’s oil supply challenges have stalled in Congress, with a Senate committee in October voting down a bill to encourage domestic refinery production. The House had already passed its version of the bill earlier in the month, and included provisions on strengthening pipeline infrastructure.

What Goes Up…Is Now Coming Down
Increasingly, oil pipeline companies are reversing the flow of some of their pipelines—crude oil that had been going up to Canada is now coming down from our northern neighbor. The reasons for the reversal are both market forces and improving technology, which have driven down the costs of production from Canada’s vast oil sands.
