FERC Nominations
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has been without a full slate of five commissioners for some time. This month the President announced his intention to nominate Jon Wellinghoff, of Nevada, and Philip D. Moeller, of Washington, to the commission.
Wellinghoff, an attorney, once served as staff counsel for the Nevada Public Utilities Commission. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada and earned a master's degree from Howard University. He received his JD degree from the Antioch School of Law.
Moeller, executive director of the Washington office for Alliant Energy Corporation, was once senior legislative assistant for electricity policy for Senator Slade Gorton (R-WA). He is a graduate of Stanford University. Senate confirmation of both is likely soon.
Nora Brownell's term expires at the end of June, which will bring the commission below five members again.
