Safety is its own reward, but put your pipeline safety skills to the test and you could win free gasoline for a year.

To encourage pipeline safety and awareness, ConocoPhillips Pipe Line Company (CPPL) has launched the “Free Gasoline for a Year” sweepstakes. To enter, participants go to CPPL’s Web site and take a survey about pipeline rights-of-way, one-call centers and safety measures. The Web site and survey also are promoted in the safety information brochure CPPL mails to its stakeholders. More than 7,100 people have taken the survey since the program began in August.
One lucky winner will be selected to receive free gasoline for a year, in the form of $1,500 in certificates that can be redeemed at participating Conoco, Phillips 66 and 76 branded service stations.
“We hope this contest will not only involve residents living along our rights-of way, but will also motivate everyone to learn more about the nation’s oil pipeline system and how it operates,” said CPPL President Meg Yaege. “Public awareness is one of the most effective tools we have for ensuring pipeline safety.”

CPPL operates more than 12,000 miles of pipelines and more than 80 storage terminals in the United States. Aerial inspections of pipeline rights-of-way, hydrotesting (testing line integrity by using water) and other internal inspections are just some of the safety precautions CPPL takes to maintain its pipeline system.
