Update: Altadena Old Fashion Days Parade & ArtBreak
by Gene Stevenson
As they say, it never rains in Southern California - at least on those important days that finally roll around after a lot of blood, sweat and tears have been expended. And that's the way it was on Saturday, October 30th when the Altadena Old Fashion Days Parade came to town. A beautiful day, after much rainy weather and a fantastic parade executed by the Rotary. The Chamber's good friend, KABC Channel 7 weatherman, Dallas Raines, reigned as Grand Marshall to the enjoyment of a large, enthusiastic parade crowd. This was followed by an opportunity for parade-goers to patronize the large number of vendors participating and enjoy main stage muscial entertainment. Then, there was The Altadena Arts Council "ArtBreak," inaugurated this year and providing a variety of performing and visual arts and workshops for enthusiastic participants. How about the fantastic music provided guest stars, "50 Cent Haircut"? Then, there was the Crown City Chamber Players in concert attire and the outstanding Eliot Middle School Orchestra and the PHS and Muir Jazz Bands, and on and on. Trader Joes Stores provide great support to the event and, lead by the La Canada Flintridge Store Manager, Lorrie Losorelli, an enthusiastic group of her staff took excellent care of the young crowd with food, pumpkin carving and gifts. The front lawn of Eliot provided and excellent venue. Many thanks to the staff of Eliot for their support and hospitality. If you were not there, you didn't just miss it. You really missed it!!
