Chamber Fundraising Support
by E. Stevenson

We thought that you would be interested in knowing about the generosity of Chamber member Craig Washington, Realtor, with the Washington Realty Group. This past July, Craig sponsored a "Concert in the Park", at Farnsworth Amphitheater, with the proceeeds going to support the Chamber's "Marion Lee Scholarship Fund. Now, here's where your own generosity can come into play: We are asking for the support of each Chamber member in making the results of Craig's effort multiply many times over. Your contributions of matching funds can make it possible for the Chamber to assist a number of our Altadena students with scholarship awards. Lets start the Chamber's phone ringing with your pledge of funds to support the scholarship fund.

Altadena Parade and Festival
by E. Stevenson

Saturday, October 30th, is the kick-off date for Altadena's "Olde fashion Days Parade and Community Festival. As you know, this is our community's annual opportunity to get out on a usually sunny day in the foothills to enjoy the sound of marching bands, decorated vehicle, parade entries, and good food. This year's theme is titled "The Magic of the Arts" and will highlight the importance of the arts to our community's quality of life and to the education of our children and youth. This year, The Altadena Arts Council will inaugurate "ArtBreak," a day-long series of workshops; demonstrations; exhibits; performances; photo contests; "ArtSpell;" Trader Joe's Stores "Pumpkin Art Painting;" clowns; face-painting; mask-making; a special appearance by the band, "50 Cent Haircut;" cotton candy; popcorn; hotdogs; and a whole range of events to celebrate and promote the importance and power of the arts. There may also be a surprise appearance by several well-known guests to add to the day's enjoyment. The Arts Council is seeking volunteers, student-artists interested in participating in ArtBreak and ArtBreak sponsors. For information, call the Arts Council at 626-398-4178 or e-mail: altadenartscouncil@sbcglobal.net.

OK. Lets assume you don't know how to hit a golf ball. Or a baseball, or a tennis ball, a racquet ball. There's always dodge ball where the ball can hit you! Problem solved? Definitely not!! Because the Chambers's Annual Golf Tournament is an event that you should not/would not want to miss despite ball hitting limitations. This event, now in its 11th year, is one of the most ejoyable, skillfully played, and entertaining events in the San Gabriel Valley. So, why not come out, join in the fun, the food and the entertainment, all for a very good cause. Give a call to the Chamber office for entry forms and for volunteer opportunities.
