The County Line
by County Commissioner Joe Jaynes

County Commissioner Joe Jaynes discusses the recently released population figures from the North Central Texas Council of Governments.  Overall, Collin County grew by 37,500 people in 2005.  In addition, Commissioner Jayes notes that last year, Collin County received only 18.97 inches of rain which made 2005 the driest year since the 1950s and the fifth driest year since 1910. With summer just around the corner, Collin County cities are already at a Stage 2 drought level and scheduled to go to Stage 3 on June 1.  He explains the various stages and the necessary actions businesses and residents are required to take.
